La Milonga Del Corazón
The aim of 'La Milonga Del Corazón' is to further promote Tango in the region of Skåne. We will strive to complement the already rich tango scene by offering an authentic milonga based on the traditions of Buenos Aires. Our biannual milonga will take place in conjunction with visits by top dancers from Argentina who will perform at the evening milonga and present a range of workshops over the weekend.
In order to uphold the traditions and authenticity of the dance as it is danced in Buenos Aires, La Milonga Del Corazón will promote the use of tango etiquette, rules and traditions that are used in the most famous milongas such as 'Salon Canning', 'El Beso' and 'Nino Bien'. Although we will not strictly enforce these rules we will try to promote them and hope that you will do the same so we can replicate an authentic, traditional milonga direct from the heart of Buenos Aires. Below you can find some of these traditions that we call the Rules of the House:
Dress Code "dress to impress" - The dress code for La Milonga Del Corazón is just like our milonga Elegant, Classical, Stylish and Traditional. Ladies take out your little black number, gentlemen dust off your suit, this evening will be special so please dress to impress
Cortina "Leave the dance floor" - The Cortina is a code of behavior in a milonga and the beauty of cortinas in Buenos Aires is that absolutely everybody thanks their partner and leaves the dance floor. Since each tanda is followed by a cortina, you can now choose who you will dance with next from among everybody present in the room, instead of having to limit yourself to whoever is sitting. It promotes the social aspect of the evening, maintains the traditions of the tango and gives everyone a chance to dance and enjoy the evening.
The Cabeceo "Bailamos?" - The accepted way to invite a person to dance is to catch someone's eye, and smile and nod, perhaps raising your eyebrows in an inquiring expression or directing a nod towards the dance floor. The response, if the invitation is accepted, is to smile and nod back, whereupon both people walk to the dance floor and dance. Why not try to invite your partner to dance in this way? After all the purpose of this Argentine custom, known as the "cabeceo", is to make the invitation to dance less stressful and the possibility to decline more discrete. Essentially you can avoid receiving or having to say a harsh verbal "No". It spares everybody's feelings.
Interlude 'Media Lunas' - A short musical interlude will take place 2 hours before the end of the milonga when tango will be very briefly rested to make way for 2 songs of another traditional Argentine dance. This will coincide with the serving of "media lunas" and coffee to give you that extra boost needed to get through the last part of the milonga. (This tradition has been borrowed from 'La Viruta')
'La Melodia Del Corazón' "Last dance" - Some DJs in Buenos Aires play "La Cumparsita" twice to end the night, one each of different versions. People will dance the first "La Cumparsita" with just anyone, but then dance the final La Cumparsita with their special someone. La Milonga Del Corazón will play one "La Cumparsita" but the very last song of the evening will be our special signature tune, listen out for it and make sure to have your favourite dancer/special someone ready!

El Pájaro - a former drummer, gifted with enormous musicality and musical expression his rhythmic interpretation of tango, waltz and the milonga is exceptional and breathtaking. This unequaled dancer with a remarkable talent for improvisation is a renowned artist, who is known all over the world for his quality, precision and pedagogy as a dance trainer. His feet speed, the lightness of his movements and his capacity to whistle in many different ways give him his nickname “El Pájaro” (The Bird).
Claudia- the former dance partner of Marianno "Chicho" Frumboli, Clauida is an icon for many women the world over, her style and presence has opened new possibilities for improvisation and dance technique. In the world of tango Clauida has an impressive CV listing Fabián Salas, Chicho and Gustavo Naveira as her masters and mentors. Claudia talent and repertoire can be best summed up by the words of Fabián Salas himself
"Claudia belongs to that selected group of people who possess a special talent—both her technical knowledge and teaching experience derived from other dances have elevated the woman’s role in tango, creating a distinctive style that is followed by many women around the world these days. Her work has been engraved on the collective memory as watershed moments in the evolution that tango is experiencing nowadays".
