Hot in Iceland!
Don'tcha just love those corny puns? :) But it's the best way I can describe the tango scene here the last few days. Last night at Cultura, for the 2nd week in a row there were more than 10 couples at a time on the tiny dance floor! (and where was my camera...darn!) For those of you who have seen this place, you will know that is quite a feat. And speaking of feet, one of mine has a nice 2.5 cm gash from a high-heel of another dancer! (I could take a picture of that, for drama, but I'll spare you) It only stopped me momentarily though, while I went to get a band-aid.
On Tuesday, Per and Maria hosted tango lessons and guided practica at a new venue, Næsti Bar, right around the corner from Cultura. Tonight, they are introducing Queer Tango at Q-Bar...just up the street from Næsti Bar, and Sunday, they will be performing and teaching at Oliver, also nearby. I can't wait! Also, Bryndis and Hany have started drop-in classes before the Saturday practicas. All of this is doing a lot to usher new people into the world of tango. And I'm getting lots of chances to practice my leading!

Yes, Laura, we do love those corny puns. ;) And also dancing in Reykjavík, of course. This week we are enjoying four tango nights and two salsa nights - almost a full schedule! Iceland is hot!
